The editorial program of MMB began in 1935 uer the direction of Carsten Høeg. Since then, the University of Copenhagen has housed continuous research activities in the field of Byzantine chant. MMB is published under the auspices of Union Académique Internationale and has been suppoarted by the Carlsberg Foundation.
